Ian McKellen Expected to Make Speedy Recovery After Falling Off Stage During Performance

Ian McKellen, 85, fell off stage during a performance of John Falstaff in Player Kings at the Noël Coward theatre in London.
The actor cried out in pain, calling for help, during a fight scene in the play.
Spectators saw the Hollywood veteran lose his footing and fall off the stage.
He was taken to the hospital and the play was cancelled.
The play, adapted and directed by Robert Icke, is a production of Shakespeare’s Henry IV, Parts I and II.
A theatre spokesperson mentioned that McKellen is expected to make a full recovery.
His previous Shakespeare roles include Richard II, Macbeth, and King Lear.
The screen and stage actor is set to star as Hamlet in a new film adaptation directed by Sean Mathias.
McKellen is known for his roles in the Lord of the Rings films and X-Men movies.
